These paintings were done for an illustrated edition of The War of
the Worlds by H.G. Wells. It comes out in
November of 2001. I did a total of seventeen paintings for the
book. It even features two different endpapers (not pictured
here). Actually three of the pictures on this page did not make it
into the book. They are preliminaries.
If you look for the book, it is part of the Books of Wonder series. It started with William Morrow and is continued now with Harper Collins.
