- In 1997 I
illustrated The Three Musketeers for William
Morrow. This was part of their Books of Wonder
series. Altogether I did sixteen paintings for the
book. A commission like this was something new for
me. Most of the work I had been doing was bookcovers
-- one assignment, one deadline. Illustrating a book
was another matter and required special discipline.
I learned a great deal from the work and I applied that to
my next assignment from William Morrow*, illustrating The
War of the Worlds.
