This colorfully plumed bird is the last known surviving member of its species. It is part of Peale's personal zoo, and it was handed down through three generations of his family before it became his. Based on a conservative estimate it is well beyond its two hundredth birthday. Sadly, this beautiful creature’s coloring is an indication that it is ready to mate.
